In this ten-hour camp, students will learn basic (and more advanced for those with experience) drawing and value techniques as a preparation to working toward a full-color painting. Students will work through exercises and also work from direct observation and photos.
Two classes will be dedicated to value and line drawing and then transition from pencil to color media for classes 3 and 4. Individual attention will assist students with little or some experience. The goal is for students to gain drawing skills, learn how to organize a composition, and how to develop a full color palette using acrylic paint on canvas board.
The subject will be still life (students are encouraged to bring an old tennis shoe, or hiking boot, or heeled shoe for first class to use in a still life). Full color painting will be based on direct observation sunflower still life. Second painting will be student’s choice of subject (will need photos).
